Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Nancy Mace announced the U.S. House of Representatives passed her bill renaming the Hilton Head Island Post Office located at 213 William Hilton Parkway after Caesar H Wright:

“Caesar Wright is part of the fabric of Hilton Head Island and served as the first black postman on the island,” said Rep. Mace. “His time at the postal service goes back to the days of sandy roads and a quiet coastal community. Today, we honor Mr. Wright with the renaming of this post office, and continue to celebrate Hilton Head’s rich history and Mr. Wright’s decades of service to the community.”

Members of Congress have the ability to rename post offices in honor of citizens in their district. This post office was previously known as the Fairfield Post office and will hereafter be known as the Caesar H. Wright Jr. Post office.
