Mayor Jane S. Darby Retirement Statement
Edisto Beach, SC, August 4-Mayor Jane Darby has notified the Town she will resign as Mayor of the Town of Edisto Beach effective August 5, 2021. The position of Mayor will remain open until a special election can be held. In the meantime, I will fulfill these duties as Mayor Pro Tem in accordance with local code.
We will be working with our Parliamentarian to determine filing times for this special election. As soon as these dates are known , they will be made public. Jane has been a great Mayor, a true champion for Edisto Beach and she will be missed. Personally, I have been honored to have worked with her over these past 6 years. Her passion and commitment to the future of Edisto Beach, its staff and our Council has been unmatched. We wish her and Larry the very best.
