Black History Month: Meet Dr. Brown, Who Made Her Own History

Meals on Wheels client, Marilyn T. Brown talked with us about her experience living through the Jim Crow era in North Carolina, memories of attending the Poor People’s March on Washington, D.C., organized by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and earning an education as a Black woman in America. Follow her on a tour back through time and hear her thoughts on where we stand today.

Children Create Cards in Southeastern Florida

Kids in Florida made sure seniors were not forgotten on Valentine’s Day. Their handmade cards brought smiles to seniors in thier community. “That’s a nice treat, that’s for sure,” said Edward Halligan, a Meals on Wheels client. “And there are little hearts!”

Though demand has risen 25% since the COVID-19 pandemic began for this local program in Massachusetts, the program delivered a hot meals plus personalized Valentine's Day care packages with treats and cards to over 700 seniors.
