After graduating 122 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students through USC Salkehatchie’s partnership with the University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing, a new tradition has begun. USC Salkehatchie is now in partnership with USC Beaufort to deliver the BSN program to Salkehatchie-based students.
“We are excited and proud to announce that the first USC Beaufort at Salkehatchie BSN cohort graduated on April 29,” Dr. April Cone, academic program manager, said. “In addition to the 13 graduates, 13 juniors and 14 sophomores are currently enrolled in the partnership program.”
The upper division application will open in May with a new cohort of up to 16 nursing students beginning the nursing program in January 2023.
Strategic collaboration among UofSC campuses and community partners allows students to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom in the clinical setting. The partnership program, which is committed to “growing our own nurses,” is vital in meeting the critical need for highly qualified registered nurses to care for those living in and around the Salkehatchie region.
