Tiffany Haddish Delivers Meals, Volunteer Month and More!
RIDE ALONG WITH COMEDIAN TIFFANY HADDISH
National Volunteer Month is coming to a close and we've got you covered with highlights. First, take a virtual drive with award-winning actress, comedian and Meals on Wheels volunteer, Tiffany Haddish, as she knocks on doors to deliver meals to seniors in the Atlanta area.
Thank You: Nearly 10,000 Gift Cards to Celebrate Volunteers
Homebound seniors would go hungry without the care of Meals on Wheels volunteers, and we’re eternally grateful for all they do. Volunteers are vital for the health and safety of America’s seniors, and we appreciate those that have helped through the pandemic – a time we’ve needed them most.
As part of our goal to thank and energize these volunteers, we distributed nearly 10,000 gift cards, donated by six companies. It’s one small way to celebrate those who donate their time to bring compassion to older adults.

Volunteer Spotlights
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Meals on Wheels – they are critical to keeping our wheels turning and are often the only person a senior may see all day or week long. Below you’ll see just a few of the many inspiring volunteer stories from across the country.
'I Could Serve My Country...I Could Serve My Community'
Ray Furman, a 96-year-old WWII veteran, has been delivering meals since he returned from war. He was officially named a hometown hero after decades of dedication to his Texas community.

'Delivering Meals Is An Honor For Me'
It’s no secret that volunteers say giving back enriches their lives. Maybe that's why, after 31 years and thousands of meals, volunteer driver Everette Burkard is still on the road for Meals on Wheels in Nevada County, California.
'You Can Count On Us'
Rising gas prices can’t slow down Meals on Wheels volunteers in Arlington, Virginia. Together, they deliver food to nearly 180 senior clients every week. That’s about 1,800 meals to support their community!
'It Was a Frightening Situation'
It’s not uncommon for Meals on Wheels volunteers to experience medical emergencies. That was the case for Will Dashield, who helped an older man trapped under his mower.
