Americans are facing a serious hunger crisis as prices continue to rise, and 10 million of our nation’s hungry are homebound seniors – their hunger often hidden behind closed doors.

Meals on Wheels America President and CEO Ellie Hollander and Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot spoke with Good Morning America 3 about their focus on helping seniors and how this critical issue needs attention from us all.

Historic White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health

The historic White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health brought leaders from a variety of backgrounds together this month to explore a new, national strategy that ensures everyone will have access to nutritious food. Meals on Wheels America was honored to be invited to join that conversation. This is a big step toward achieving our collective goal to end hunger and reduce diet-related diseases by 2030.

$500K in Pet Grants Distributed to Over 60 Meals on Wheels Programs

Pets provide love and companionship to aging adults, but many seniors are forced to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their furry friends. To help keep pets together with their senior owners, Meals on Wheels America distributed $509,000 in grants to more than 60 local Meals on Wheels programs across the country to help them provide pet food, veterinary care and more to the pets of their senior clients.
