Description
Improving women’s health and well-being by providing preventive care through telehealth at Edisto Island Branch Library.
About the WISE Telehealth Network
The purpose of the WISE (Women in the South-East) Telehealth Network is to improve women’s health and well-being by providing preventive care through health education, telehealth, referrals, and community resources at local libraries and the Mobile Library. WISE aims to impact rural areas in Charleston County by connecting women to healthcare resources. CCPL will increase healthcare access and address health disparities through direct provision and referral, offering care management, and connecting women to available community and social services.
Services available through WISE include health education, telehealth, referrals, and community resources related to: birth control, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, lactation consultations, cancer screenings, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or HIV, pregnancy, mental health including depression during or after pregnancy, substance use, and nutrition/exercise.
This project is made possible by funding from the South Carolina Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare and a partnership between the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), and the College of Charleston.
CCPL is one of five organizations statewide receiving funding to support library systems as hubs to improve community health.
